Qalb Mahmood at Melkweg Expo
Exhibition design for Qalb Mahmood, the latest work by Omani photographer Abdulaziz Al-Hosni in collaboration with WePresent and Melkweg Expo.
In Qalb Mahmood Aziz challenges traditional notions of masculinity and the rigid gender norms often associated with Omani culture. Through his lens, he invites viewers to rethink the concept of the “authentic self” and explore the fluidity of gender roles, offering a fresh perspective on self-representation within a futuristic, utopian context.
The exhibition immerses visitors in Aziz’s world, featuring large-scale images displayed on vibrant pink walls, where the central figures express bold, powerful emotions. These larger-than-life visuals are paired with smaller black-and-white prints, framed on aluminum, which add depth and nuance to the narrative of self-representation. In the middle of the exhibit is a photo set in the shape of a red heart, allowing visitors to step into Aziz his world filled with love and self-expression.
